The Friends of Clifton High hosted the first Super Saturday of Sport last month, where former pupils returned to Clifton High to play against the School’s current first teams. This year’s event was all the more special as, for the first time, we welcomed back the boys as well as the girls. The morning had a truly special atmosphere with former pupils, parents and teachers also joining us to support the teams and enjoy bacon sandwiches and home-made cakes in the September sunshine.
The School’s first netball and hockey teams played some thrilling matches against the Friends Team which included Elle Barton, Hannah Morris, Ella Rayson, Sophie Hurst, Alex Tudor, Penny Thorne and Sophia May Carrasco. The boys enjoyed a triangular tournament with rugby and football matches played between current pupils, former pupils and a parents and teachers team. The football tournament included some strong games and tenacious tackles with the Friends team running out as winners, with the current first team second and teachers and parents coming last. On the rugby pitch, again the matches were played in excellent spirits with a combative performance from all. The Friends team were once again triumphant with the teachers and parents team coming second and the current first team last. Mr Taylor was delighted to welcome back to school recent leavers Barney Picton, Anthony Doubleday and Sam Hopkins as well as Thomas Harvey, Jack Alford, Matt Godfrey, Alex Minter-Swannell, Larry Williamson, Max Nutter, Louis Paulson and Harry Summerill.
We are already looking forward to next year’s event so please contact us in the Development Office if you would like to join a team in 2020.
