In memory |
Professor Dame Teresa Rees was an eminent British social scientist and a woman of immense academic achievements and huge modesty.
Her last of many academic posts was as Pro Vice-Chancellor of Cardiff University.
She was formerly an Equal Opportunities Commissioner and contributed to government policy on gender equality, in which she specialised.
Terry was awarded the DBE in 2015 for services to Social Sciences, having amassed a total of 10 honorary doctorates from universities around Europe and the British Isles, more than many leading scientists and Nobel Laureates!
But Terry was remarkably humble about her many achievements.
On a personal level she was a lifelong friend to many from CHS schooldays who remember her wicked sense of fun and her determination to push the boundaries of the super restrictive boarding school regime of the 1960s!
She will be so sadly missed by all her friends, family and academic colleagues.
