Yesterday we welcomed those collecting their GCSE results back into School to join us in celebrating our best GCSE results on record. Grades were higher across the board than in any other formal examination year, both since the introduction of the numerical grading system as well as comparative to the former letter grading.
Ted, awarded all 9s, said of the lead up to Results Day: “I was nervous, but there wasn’t anything more we could do.” Perspective in the face of uncertainty is a hard-won skill for these pupils, whose last undisrupted School year prior to undertaking their first major public examinations was Year 8. Today Ted is feeling, “really happy.” He will take German, Art and English at A level.
Emily, whose grades were all 8s and 9s, put it down to hard work: “a lot of past papers!” Emily will take Mathematics, History, Music and English at A level and beyond that, aspires to study law.
Ted and Emily are looking forward to their Sixth Form careers at Clifton High, and to welcoming new classmates when term starts in just over a week.
Our congratulations to Ted, Emily and all our students who received their results - we are very proud of you all.
