In memory |
Written by Daphne's sister, Andrea Caish. (nee Baker) (CHS 1950 - 1963)
Daphne died on October 21st 2020 after a valiant fight against cancer.
At school she excelled at swimming - being School Swimming Captain first of the middle school team and then of the seniors. Upon leaving CHS she went on to a domestic science course and became a school matron at Dean Close School in Cheltenham.
At 21 she married Roger Veale whose sister Linda was also at CHS. They had over 57 years together with two daughters and a son.
Daphne had great sadness in her life - losing both daughters, one in 1969 and the other in 2018.
However she had many happy years with Roger, travelling to many different countries and fulfilling many different roles. She was a very talented and capable lady and showed the true CHS spirit as she faced her final hurdle over the past months.
I shall miss her positivity, generosity and kindness. She was my big sister and paved the way for me.
She leaves her husband, Roger, son Graeme and four loving and adorable grandchildren.
